Our Product Biodiversity Footprint (PBF) methodology is acknowledged by the French Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB)!

PBF is assessed in the report of the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity among the tools and indicators for measuring the impact of human activities on biodiversity.

Purpose of PBF

is to propose a specific tool to evaluate the impact of different products on biodiversity. Biodiversity is essential for our ecosystems and yet very few environmental metrics currently account for it.

Concept

Is to look at the whole value chain of products, by combining ecological data on site with the systemic (but incomplete and not granular enough) approach of LCA.

Concretely

This method allows us to support companies that are willing to contribute to preserving biodiversity in their product development. PBF is based on the 5 main human pressures on our ecosystems: land use, global warming, pollution, overexploitation and invasive species.

More than a hundred companies from various sectors have already joined the “Committed to Nature” project ; they are using metrics on biodiversity in the design of their products using methods such as Product Biodiversity Footprint.
