Ecotoxicity: Indicators, Methodology, Recent and Upcoming Developments (In French)
In Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), ecotoxicity is often not considered, and when it is, the results are rarely communicated as they are considered insufficiently robust. The SCORE LCA group aimed to answer the following question: “How can current ecotoxicity indicators in LCA be used for corporate decision-making?”
During this study, Sayari, in partnership with I-Care, analyzed five LCA methods commonly used by SCORE LCA members. These methods were studied from a theoretical perspective, identifying the key principles that characterize them and their alignment with international recommendations such as GLAM. They were also examined from a practical standpoint, considering their implementation in software through various case studies.
A decision tree for practitioners was also developed to help them clearly define the goal and scope of their study and choose the ecotoxicity method most suited to their project.
The methodological document is available here (in French).
