Introduction 🐳

A new year is upon us, and we’re delighted to invite you to dive into the heart of a marvellous universe, still mysterious but infinitely precious: that of the ocean.

2025: The Year of the Common Sea 🌍

In 2025, France will host the 3ᵉ United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice. On this occasion, this year will be celebrated as the “Year of the Sea in Common¹”. For us, this is a unique opportunity to highlight the marine world, its beauty, its resources, but also the challenges it faces, and the solutions that exist to solve them.

But then, why is the Ocean so important? 🤔

We’ll leave you a few points from his CV, it gives clues to the answer. Plus, it’s some billion years old…

  • Cradle of life on Earth, no less
  • Official international oxygen producer
  • Multi-supplier of economic services (fishing, transport, energy, mining resources, and so on)
  • High-tech air conditioner (we’re told it’s the world’s leading climate regulator!)
  • Invaluable source of biodiversity

Our invitation to you 🎉

In the coming months, we invite you to join us on a marine odyssey in regular blog posts:

  • Dive into this fascinating universe, discover or rediscover its unique ecosystems, marvel at its biodiversity treasures
  • Learn about its resources and the vital services it provides for us
  • Become aware of the crucial issues related to the oceans
  • Take action for the oceans by anticipating future challenges

Stay tuned for our next marine explorations👂
