Our interns tell you everything!
Are you interested in joining us, but would like to learn more about how a small design office like ours works?
Then you’ve come to the right place! Below you’ll find testimonials from Inès, Grégoire, Pierre-Louis and Arnaud, all former Sayari interns or who worked with us in the past. They tell you all about it 😉
Testimony of Inès, a student at Ecole Polytechnique and member of Sayari’s PSC on marine biodiversity.
We had the honor of being mentored by Sayari for 1 year during our second year at Ecole Polytechnique. We carried out a project analyzing the various impacts of fishing on marine biodiversity, and were accompanied by Anne-Claire, Aurore and Grégoire. The Sayari team enabled us to understand the different issues raised by fishing today, and to carry out a detailed analysis of the different impacts caused by it. Our tutors accompanied and monitored us on a weekly basis, enabling us to work steadily and steadily while remaining true to our initial problem. Thanks again to them for their help and involvement in this joint project.
Testimonial from Grégoire, a former X student who joined Sayari as part of a group project. He then decided to stay on to continue the scientific work that had been initiated during this assignment.
My fantastic adventure at Sayari began in summer 2019. Tutored by Anne-Claire and Aurore, I first carried out a project comparing the environmental impact of salmon production with 4 fellow students from Ecole Polytechnique. We all came from different backgrounds, and the team enabled us to discover and apply Life Cycle Analysis and ecological assessments. Our tutors gave us a lot of support, and sometimes even shook us up when we didn’t provide enough, always with kindness. The project was rewarded by the School for its scientific quality and presented at international conferences. I then continued my work at Sayari by quantifying the impact of overfishing on marine biodiversity. This 2-year research project, with the unfailing support and indispensable contribution of Aurore and Anne-Claire, culminated in the publication of a peer-reviewed article in a scientific journal. This study helped me understand my passion for marine biodiversity, guiding my academic and professional project. I also presented our study at a scientific conference in Copenhagen, where I had the chance to represent Sayari internationally and interact with researchers from all over the world.
Combining scientific excellence, uprightness, honesty and entrepreneurial drive, Sayari has been with me every step of the way. The office has enabled me to develop my critical thinking skills, autonomy and teamwork, while working on subjects that address current sustainability issues.
Testimony of Pierre-Louis who worked with us for 3 months in 2021.
I joined Sayari for a 3-month internship during the summer of 2021-2022. It was a really great experience for me.
I didn’t come from a biology background, which mainly dealt with agricultural issues. Despite this, the four-person team trusted me and helped me learn a lot about this field. That’s what I particularly liked about Sayari. In addition to developing a positive, work-friendly atmosphere, the team was always available to answer my questions. Every day, I learned more about the subjects I had to deal with.
The autonomy, mutual support and good communication allowed me to work with confidence and to participate fully in certain tasks for the advancement of the project, while still having an overall view of what we were in the process of setting up, the Planet-score. However, I regretted the fact that I didn’t have an office I could go to every day, forcing me to work from home. Even if this meant I could work while traveling during the course, it wasn’t worth the pleasure of meeting up in person a few times a month.
All in all, I’d say that the availability of the team and the wide range of subjects they cover enable a trainee to learn every day, and to grow by working on a subject that makes sense.
Here’s a testimonial from Arnaud, who worked with us for 6 months between 2021 and 2022.
Initially studying mechanical engineering, I joined a master’s degree in environment and sustainable development in my final year, as I wanted to move into environmental engineering. In this context, I applied to join Sayari for my final year internship from September 2021 to February 2022. Despite my limited experience in the field at the time, the team immediately trusted me and welcomed me with open arms.
I was quickly assigned several projects, including a life-cycle analysis. This project will remain one of my best memories of my internship. Firstly, because I particularly appreciate this environmental assessment methodology, and secondly, because I took part in all the phases, from data collection to oral and written feedback to the customer.
This internship also enabled me to discover the world of research, and the importance of a scientific approach in any project I undertake. Finally, because the human side of things is just as important as the professional, I’ll have very fond memories of my relationships within the team, whether on our projects or during our fortnightly get-togethers in our favorite coworking space!
In short, Sayari is a small organization today, but one that deserves to grow, given the crucial and fascinating issues it tackles every day.
