Meet our new team member!

Sayari is pleased to welcome Pénélope BIEUVILLE as an Environment and Biodiversity Consultant. To mark her arrival, we asked her a few questions.
Here is her interview.
Why did you choose Sayari ?
Environmental protection has long been a core part of my value system, it guided my decision to study engineering in France. I then completed a second degree at Polytechnique Montréal, in the CIRAIG laboratory, working on metal requirements for the energy transition. That’s where I discovered the research world, life cycle assessment, and… Sayari.
When I came back to France, I wanted to join Sayari, first for its environmental commitment, which aligns with my own convictions, but also for its strong ties with the research world, which is where I come from. I particularly appreciate the importance Sayari places on biodiversity in its work, as well as the diversity of stakeholders the team collaborates with (companies, public sector, academic partners).
What will you be working on ?
As an Environment and Biodiversity Consultant, I will be carrying out life cycle assessment and biodiversity studies, as well as contributing to research and development on these topics.
Which environmental issues convern you most ?
If I focus on my personal quality of life, what worries me most is the disruption of the seasons, because it is already very tangible. As a very nostalgic person, I’m afraid of living in a world where I can no longer see snow in winter, where the mild temperatures of spring and autumn disappear, and where summer becomes suffocating because of heatwaves. I’m afraid that high temperatures will force us to stay indoors in airconditioned buildings, cutting us off even more from nature.
A motto or quote that inspires you ?
“Madness is no longer madness once it becomes collective.”
Alain Damasio, La Horde du Contrevent
Which also is my favorite book !
What are your favorite hobbies ?
My hobbies revolve mainly around visual arts, such as drawing, watercolour and ceramics. I see creation as an essential way to express what goes beyond words and to bring a touch of poetry to everyday life. It is also, for me, a way to resist a society built on fast and standardised consumption.
I also love spending time with my loved ones and meeting new people. I’m very interested in sociology and human psychology, and I’m quite fascinated by the strength that can emerge from collective dynamics and a sense of community.
If you had to go on a desert island, what 3 things would you take with you ?
A sketchbook, a snorkeling kit, and my best friend.
