Meet our newest team member!

Sayari is pleased to expand its team with Yassine BOUAYAD as an Environmental Studies Assistant. On this occasion, we asked him a few questions.
Here is his interview.
Why did you choose Sayari?
After a long period of studies focused on fisheries and aquaculture, I gradually shifted towards a deeper reflection on the environmental impact that the exploitation of these resources can have. As part of my master in aquaculture health management, I was looking for a thesis topic that could combine my technical knowledge with my interest in environmental issues. This is why I decided to join Sayari, whose projects related to biodiversity, fishing, and aquaculture convinced me. Working with a dedicated team, known for its expertise and active with both public and private stakeholders, represents an ideal opportunity for me to deepen my skills and contribute concretely to sustainable solutions.
What will you be working on?
I am working on improving a methodology for evaluating the impact that aquaculture can have on biodiversity, through various aspects.
Which environmental issues concern you most?
Among the environmental issues, the one that concerns me the most is the overexploitation of marine resources, particularly the excessive pressure on fish stocks. This endangers the balance of ecosystems and weakens the food security of many communities. At the same time, I am also very sensitive to the impact of aquaculture when it is not well-managed. These are key questions if we want to combine production and respect for the environment.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I have been passionate about football since a very young age. I love practicing sports in various forms: running, gym workouts, and swimming. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and recreational fishing, which allow me to recharge.
If you were an animal, you’d be…
An octopus because it is curious, intelligent, and capable of quickly adapting to its environment and different situations.
If you had to go to a deserted island, what 3 things would you take with you?
A football, a Fishing rod, and my tent.
