Meet our newest team member!

Sayari is pleased to add Anna YILDIRAN to its team as an environmental studies assistant. We took this opportunity to ask her a few questions.
Here’s her interview.
Why did you choose Sayari?
During my bachelor’s at EPFL, I focused on Life Sciences Engineering, and in my master’s, I continued in the same field while also pursuing a minor in Financial Engineering. For my master’s internship, however, I was eager to deepen my understanding of sustainability. I chose Sayari for this opportunity because I believe it offers the perfect bridge between science and consulting, and I’m excited to explore the various aspects I will learn during my internship. Additionally, the supportive and welcoming environment of the team was a key factor in my decision to join the company.
What will you be working on?
I am currently researching the contributions of metal recycling to the environment, and to the loss of biodiversity. I’m looking forward to contributing to multiple biodiversity and LCA projects during my internship.
Which environmental issues concern you most?
While it is crucial to address all environmental issues, I am particularly concerned about plastic pollution. Unlike some other materials, plastics do not biodegrade; instead, they break down into microplastics, which have been found not only in various ecosystems but also in the food we consume and the air we breathe. Although the immediate effects may seem minimal, the long-term impact on the human body could be harmful, potentially affecting hormonal balance, causing inflammation, increasing toxicity, and damaging the immune system.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I’ve been passionate about playing the piano since I was six years old, and I try to play whenever I can. Another one of my hobbies is working out, whether it’s going to the gym or incorporating different sports like swimming and running into my routine. I also love traveling, I find it incredibly eye-opening.
If you were an animal, you’d be…
A cat, because I find them to be very deliberate in their actions, and while they are very observant, they maintain a calm demeanour. I appreciate their non-impulsiveness, and I feel like that is something we have in common.
If you had to go to a deserted island, what 3 things would you take with you?
A towel, a speaker, and probably my sister.
