Nestlé x Sayari x Darwin Webinar

During a webinar dedicated to integrating biodiversity impact into corporate strategy, Sayari, along with Darwin and Nestlé, presented an integrated approach from the field to the product and the corporate level.

Nestlé, which manages numerous agricultural operations, reaffirmed its ambition for regenerative agriculture, aiming for 100% of its sourcing to follow such practices by 2030. The company emphasized the importance of in-depth fieldwork with agronomists, as each landscape is unique and requires tailored practices.

Sayari has developed a method to measure the effects of agricultural practices on biodiversity. It is possible to assess a continuum of practices, from ground cover to the presence of agroecological infrastructures, including the quantity and type of inputs, crop rotations, landscape diversity and more.

Our expertise allows us to evaluate impacts and benefits by commodity; the example of wheat was presented during the webinar. For the finished products derived from it (for example, a biscuit made from the previously mentioned wheat flour), the added value of regenerative agriculture is incorporated into consumer-facing information.

It is also possible to track the evolution of these practices over time and reflect the progress made in biodiversity footprint assessments.

Finally, Darwin presented a new tool capable of integrating the granularity of fieldwork into the corporate biodiversity footprint, a tool which is useful for both non-financial reporting and investor information.

The benefits of regenerative agriculture, as quantified by Sayari, can be integrated at the level of each commodity, enabling coherence between actions taken in the field and communications at the product level (toward consumers) and the corporate level (toward investors, etc.).
